An introduction to the art and science of fly-fishing and the necessary knowledge to make educated fly tackle selections. Students will also learn how to tie flies for Alaskan fish, tie fishing knots and construct their own leaders and most importantly, learn where fish live and how to best catch (and release) them. Scientific information on Alaskan freshwater fish, habitat, entomology, and stream ecology will be covered in the context of practical fishing advice.
