Fall 2008 Class Schedule

Cosmetology Pilot Program

TVC anticipates offering courses as part of a newly developed Cosmetology Pilot program pending approval from the Alaska Board of Barbers and Hairdressers.  Once approved, this three-semester program will prepare you to take the State of Alaska Hairstyling Exam and to qualify for high-demand employment in salons and shops. The TVC program is being developed with active support and engagement of licensed industry professionals in the greater Fairbanks area.

Upon completion of the program and licensing by the State of Alaska, you will be able to practice hairstyling, manicures, pedicures, facial waxing and limited skin care. Students will have to successfully complete the minimum 1650 hours prior to taking the state hairstyling exam.

The Cosmetology Pilot program will be intensive, normally requiring 30-40 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Students in the program may qualify for UAF Financial Aid. The program will extend over three semesters: Spring 2008 (January-May), Summer 2008 (May-August), and Fall 2008 (September-December). Courses will include both theoretical training in a classroom setting plus practical training with licensed instructors in licensed salons.
