The Tanana Valley Campus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks
offers a one-year
certificate degree in Drafting Technology. Students can
choose from one of three options in the program: Architectural
Drafting, Civil Drafting, and Architectural/Civil Drafting.
The courses combine the technical "know-how" with hands-on
experience. Our objective is to train you in the required
basic skills so that you can use these as a beginning for
a productive and successful work experience in a variety of
drafting related fields. We emphasize hands-on training and
in-class experience as students develop the skills necessary
in today's workplace.
Facilities and Instructors
All Classes are held at the TVC Hutchison Center at the Hutchison Institute of Technology on Geist Road and in the Downtown Center on 2nd Avenue. Class sizes are small to encourage student-instructor interaction and to allow for individualized assistance. All of our drafting classes are held in the evening so as to meet the needs of students who are currently employed. A number of our drafting courses are also offered via web.Admissions Requirements
To gain entry into the program, students must fill out a UAF Undergraduate Application for Admission, available from the admissions office at 1-800-478-1UAF or online from the admissions office.
Applications are also available at the Tanana Valley Campus Center or at the Office of Admissions in Signers Hall. There is a $40 non-refundable processing fee. Students do, however, have the option of enrolling in individual classes without applying into the program. Contact our Student Assistance Center at 455-28511 or fytvc@uaf.edu for more information. Once accepted into the program, students will work with an advisor to select classes. In addition, our Student Assistance Center offers counseling and assistance with financial aid, tutoring, college “survival” skills and more. At the Tanana Valley Campus, we are here to help guide students on the road to success!
