Skill Expectations
Students should have taken CIOS 110 Microcomputer Operating Systems or have equivalent skills before taking this class.

  1. To be able to understand the strengths, weaknesses, context and appropriate use of the specific operating system.
     
  2. To be able to understand the hardware specifications needed to install a particular operating system.
     
  3. To be able to install and configure the operating system.
     
  4. To be able to optimize and troubleshoot the operating system.
     
  5. To be able to configure the operating system for appropriate security levels.
     
  6. To be able to install and configure the operating system to use appropriate hardware.
     
  7. To be able to install and configure the operating system to take advantage of network resources.
     
  8. To be able to choose and install appropriate applications within the operating system.
     
  9. To be able to optimize the operating system to take advantage of its specific strengths.
     
  10. To be able to provide user support for the operating system.
     
  11. To be able to gather and apply current support information about the operating system.
