Information Technology Specialist (ITS) Program

Degree Competencies
The Information Technology Specialist program has specific degree outcome standards for both the undergraduate certificate and A.A.S. degree program. The degree standards are the general skills that students should have upon the completion of the Information Technology Specialist undergraduate certificate and A.A.S. degree.

Degree competencies provide the basis for the ITS program's Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Plan. All students are required to pass the certification review in order to receive the certificate or degree. The review will evaluate a student's skill level in each of the degree competencies defined for the certificate and degree program.

Course Competencies
In addition to the ITS degree standards each CIOS course has course competencies. The course competencies are consistent with the degree standards and define the specific skills that students should learn in each course.

Course competencies provide a consistent framework from which course syllabi area created, articulation agreements are developed, and credit for prior learning is evaluated. The information contained within the following link describe several of the ways that course competencies are utilized within the ITS program.
