Information Technology Specialist (ITS) Program
ITS Student Advising Checklist
The key to success in the ITS program is your ITS faculty advisor. It is important for you to work closely with your ITS faculty advisor to make sure your course selections meet both program requirements and your own personal or professional goals.
Use this task list to as in course selection and program advising.
- Apply to UAF as an ITS student by filling out and turning in a UAF Undergraduate Application for Admissions—available at TVC Student Assistance and Advising Center, 604 Barnette St., room 110 or online at www.uaf.edu/admissions/apply/ Your application should be accompanied by a $35 application fee
If you are a UAF student, but in a different degree program, you should apply for the ITS degree before you apply for graduation.
- Contacting an ITS faculty advisor early in your program is important so that your current computer skills can be evaluated in order to develop an individual educational plan that matches your skills and goals. If you have never completed this task, use the contact information below to set up an advising appointment.
ITS faculty advisors contact information:
- See your ITS faculty advisor each semester for course selection and advising. It is important to see an advisor for course selection in the ITS program.
- If you are having trouble with any of your courses, meet with your ITS advisor immediately so you can recieve assistance.
- When you apply to UAF, your previous credits will be evaluated. When you receive your acceptance letter and credit evaluation, meet with an ITS advisor to go over your transfer credits.
- Keep track of your credits through the ITS degree worksheet and your UA Online account.
- When you have completed 30 credits towards the A.A.S. degree, request an Undergraduate degree requirements audit—the degree audit form is available at TVC Student Assistance and Advising Center (455-2899) or online at www.uaf.edu/reg/forms/.
The degree audit will give an accurate picture of the courses you have completed and the classes you still need to complete before graduation.
- When you are within 12 to 24 credits from graduation, make sure that you take the CIOS 211 and CIOS 276 courses.
- ITS Certification Review is only given in the spring semester. Plan to take the certification review during the spring semester when you intend to graduate. If you plan to graduate during the summer or fall, take the certification review the spring semester prior to the semester you plan to graduate.
