Computing Support

Stay on the cutting edge of technology at TVC! Between TVC and UAF, you will find a variety of computing resources available to you. As a UAF/TVC student, you are automatically assigned a UAF email account. Many professors use email as a way to communicate class changes, updates, and assignments to students. Both UAF and TVC offer a number of web-based classes in which email is the sole means of communicating between professors and students.

If you are new to the world of computers, fear not! TVC offers a number of introductory computer classes as well as courses for the more advanced user through our Information Technology Services program. Click here to see a listing of computer classes available. There are also a number of free workshops and seminars available to students through the UAF Division of Computing and Communications.

TVC offers a computer lab in the Student Assistance Center of the Tanana Valley Campus Center. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 8a.m.-7p.m. and Friday from 8a.m.-5p.m. Call 455-2800 for Saturday hours. The lab may periodically close for maintenance or during registration times. Many of TVC's programs such as aviation maintenance, process technology, information technology, office management, and allied health have computer labs designated for students in the program. There are also computer labs available on the UAF campus for students to use.

Located in the UAF Bookstore on the main campus, the UA Technology Center offers education discounts for students, staff and faculty on computers and software.

Blackboard: Blackboard is an Internet-based course management tool used by many instructors to offer additional classroom resources, such as lecture notes, PowerPoint slide presentations, class handouts, or online quizzes. Blackboard also offers a discussion forum and a Virtual Classroom tool that allows instructors and students to chat in real time. Click here for more information on Blackboard.

UAOnline: UAOnline is where students can take care of most of their university business, including registering for classes, paying tuition and fees, checking grades, and much more.
